My experience guest blogging for Manfrotto
I have been invited to contribute a few guest articles to the Manfrotto blog focusing on mobile photography.
Photo FX iPhoneography app by Tiffen is a set of digital optical filters for the iPhone. Simulates many popular award-winning Tiffen glass filters, specialized lenses, optical lab processes, film grain, exacting color correction, natural light and photographic effects plus a clever paint system with a variety of brushes. It contains 76 filters with 878 presets organized in 8 different filter groups.

Using traditional cameras with detachable prime lenses I came across a technique known as freelensing. I wanted to use iPhoneography to replicate the effect .
An iPhoneography doodle. I started out with an idea in mind but it ended up dragging me all over the place. Subtitled ‘bringing the crazy out to play’. What do you see? Bonus ink blot test included.
One of the challenges with iPhoneography is that unless your subject is really close it is quite difficult to mimic depth of field (or depth of focus) which is achieved with traditional camera technology via control of aperture settings. During this tutorial I will use AfterFocus to mimic depth of field and will devote some space to look at it in a little more detail.
